Daniel's Art: August, September, October 2010

Here is some of Daniel's amazing art!

Fun at the Dickinson's Cabin!

We were thrilled when our neighbors, the Dickinsons, invited us to their parent's cabin for another fun weekend in the woods! Of course, we were excited to accept their invitation and we headed up north on Friday, November 19. We stayed for two days and two nights, coming home late in the evening on Sunday the 21st. Saturday was a beautiful, warm day. We all spent plenty of time outside, playing, hiking and making a special horror movie, "The Benji Zone." On our hike, we even found an abandoned ropes course and rock wall at a nearby church camp property. Sunday was completely different. We woke up to the sound of sleet on a tin roof. The sleet soon turned to rain and it rained, well actually it poured, all day long!! The kids had fun inside, playing games, coloring and watching movies. The adults had a great time sitting by the fire--chatting, playing cards and staying warm and dry! We love the Myczek's beautiful cabin in Christopher Creek and feel honored each time we are invited to stay. Thank you, Bob and Marion for your generosity and trust.

Happy 10th Birthday, Daniel!

Daniel Keller celebrated being a decade old on November 15, 2010. His special day started with a dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme. Then it was back home for a bit of school. Grandma Bettie and Grandpa Ron came over at lunchtime and we all went out for lunch and pie at Village Inn. When Dad came home, it was time for a quick dinner before heading out to a Cub Scout den meeting! What a great day to celebrate such a mature, loving, responsible young man! We love you, Daniel Mark Keller!!

Cleaning Up the Neighborhood!

On Veteran's Day, 2010, our kids were hanging out with the neighbors, wondering what to do. Then they had a great idea . . . . they wanted to do something to help our neighbors and serve our community. They asked for some trash bags and then hit the streets--picking up any and all trash that they could find. After a couple of hours, they were tired, sweaty and happy to have cleaned four big bags of trash from throughout our neighborhood. Way to go, kids!!

Cub Scout Fall Family Camping Trip

We love to camp! The Pack 524 Fall Family Camp Out on November 5-6 was a blast! This camp out was designed to be close to home, so that families wouldn't have to travel far. The Pack reserved campsites at the Heard Scout Pueblo at South Mountain. Despite the fact that we were camping in the dry, dusty desert, near roads, subdivisions and barking dogs, the boys had a blast playing with their friends, sitting by the campfire, making s'mores and sleeping under the stars!

Trick or Treat!

This year, we celebrated Halloween by first going to the Dickinson's Annual Halloween Corn Chowder Party. We brought our traditional Halloween dinner, Halloweenies and enjoyed the combination of chowder and hot dogs! After dinner, the kids were anxious to start trick-or-treating. The Keller boys dressed up as Mario, Luigi, Green Toad and Red Toad. While the Dickinson girls dressed up as Princess Peach, Princess Daisy and Toadette. The Mario gang was just adorable!! After canvassing the neighborhood for a couple of hours, the kids were tired and had quite a candy haul. It was a super fun night with great friends!

Carving Pumpkins!

On Saturday, October 30, we carved our Halloween Pumpkins. This year, each boy had his own pumpkin. To help out with the carving, we invited Aunt Kim and Uncle Vince over for the evening. Each boy picked out a special design for their jack-o-lantern faces. Daniel picked an alien, Benjamin chose a cyclops, Ethan wanted a mummy and Noah went with the traditional smiling face. Aunt Kim helped Noah, Uncle Vince worked with Ethan, Mom and Benjamin were a team and Dad and Daniel carved together. The finished products were outstanding and we all had so much fun together. After carving, we had pizza for dinner, cake for dessert and then took a pajama walk around the neighborhood with the Dickinsons.
